Job Description Primary Purpose
The ADA Coordinator works to promote equitable access and inclusive participation for individuals with disabilities in all municipal programs, services, facilities, and activities, while fostering a culture of accessibility across City government. The ADA Coordinator ensures the timely and ongoing compliance of City programs, services, and activities with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title II of the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (as Amended), and applicable federal and state regulations pertaining to accessibility and disability accommodations.
The ADA Coordinator is responsible for developing, updating, and coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the City’s ADA Self‑Evaluation and Transition Plan, as well as other ADA policies, procedures, and best practices for the City. Works collaboratively with all City departments to support accessibility and ADA compliance across municipal operations, programs, services, facilities, communications, and public engagement efforts. The ADA Coordinator evaluates requests for accommodation and services based on the disability needs of residents and visitors and is responsible for investigating and responding to public ADA‑related complaints on behalf of the City.
They will also advise the City’s departments, boards and commissions on matters concerning ADA compliance, accessibility, and disability accommodations. This includes coordinating training of City staff to ensure that access for City facilities, programs and services comply with the ADA. The ADA Coordinator performs all other related work as required and directed.
Performs duties requiring thorough knowledge of departmental operations, regulations and applicable local, state and federal laws, exercising judgement and initiative. Operates with a moderate level of independence over specified activity areas and refers complex issues or technical problems to the Director of Human Services.
Supervision ReceivedWorks under the policy direction of the Commissioner of Health and Human Services and under the general supervision of the Director of Human Services. Follows department rules, regulations, and policies requiring the ability to plan and perform operations and to independently complete assigned tasks according to a prescribed schedule and prioritized based on department needs. Maintains a strong sense of urgency in order to meet deadlines and responds to inquiries in a timely and efficient manner.

Essential Functions- Conducts annual reviews of City facilities, programs, services, and policies to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations including Title II of the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
- Responsible for and leads the development and evaluation of the City’s ADA Self‑Evaluation and Transition Plan, including the monitoring and reporting of goals and removal of barriers identified. Drafts, updates, and oversees implementation of the Transition Plan in collaboration with City departments. Develops, updates, and maintains database of items in progress or completed related to Title II projects, self‑evaluations conducted, and the City’s Transition Plan.
Monitors progress toward accessibility goals and recommends updates based on evolving standards and community needs. - Serves as primary point of contact for the public regarding concerns and inquiries on ADA issues. Responds to public inquiries, complaints, and accommodation requests on behalf of the City. Ensures appropriate processes are in place to provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of complaints and inquiries from the public regarding disability discrimination and accommodation requests. Receives, tracks, investigates, responds to, and acts as a facilitator in complaint resolutions related to Title II ADA.
