Assistant/Associate Director of Annual Giving Reunion Programs

The Assistant/Associate Director (AD) of Annual Giving Reunion Programs reports to the Director of Annual Giving Programs and is responsible for managing Boston College (BC) reunion volunteer leadership giving fundraising efforts, with a focus on driving gifts of $1,000 to $25,000 from three milestone reunion classes. The AD is responsible for identification and recruitment of volunteer committee members and managing solicitation strategies of volunteers and members of current and upcoming milestone reunion classes.

The AD is expected to manage relationships of potentially high-capacity/high impact individuals with a customized and high-touch approach throughout the entire process. As part of the volunteer fundraising program the AD will strategically coordinate a prospect management plan with respective prospect managers, other University Advancement (UA) leadership and colleagues to ensure a seamless and meaningful experience for each volunteer. Two Assistant/Associate Director, Annual Giving Reunion Programs positions are currently available.

As an independent contributor and also in support of the Director and Annual Giving fundraising efforts, the AD oversees the volunteer reunion fundraising program for three milestone classes throughout all levels. In addition, the AD will spend 40% of time on individual frontline fundraising efforts to achieve specific fundraising metrics in support of institutional priorities. Reunion fundraising success is key to achieving the goals of the Soaring Higher Campaign.

The AD will be highly visible as a campaign contributor.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversees a portfolio of reunion and non-reunion classes and is responsible for the development and management of class gift committees. Identifies and recruits class leadership and fundraising volunteers, sets goals, develops and implements class fundraising plans as well as collaborates with class leaders and colleagues on individual prospect strategies.
  • Manages a portfolio of undergraduate alumni prospects. Cultivates, solicits, and stewards alumni in collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Determines and executes fundraising strategies to increase reunion class giving, including personal cultivation and solicitations, management of peer-to-peer solicitations, appeals, events, stewardship activities, and strategic visits by institutional leadership.
  • Analyzes fundraising activity to identify ideas for improvement in both dollars raised and participation. Advises on class fundraising strategies, leads class leadership meetings, surveys class leadership and donor prospects, and determines solicitation strategies for leadership gift prospects. Works to increase dollars, educate volunteers, and drive donor retention and acquisition in both reunion and non-reunion classes.
  • Collaborates regularly across BC Advancement to promote strategies that move prospects through the gift cycle and to further the case Boston College and the BC Fund support specifically.
  • Conducts approximately 75 personal visits annually for recruitment, volunteer management, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship purposes. Carries a portfolio of 50-75 alumni to drive solicitation activity focused on 1863 Society solicitations and BC Fund support. Identifies prospects for longer-term institutional engagement and giving.
  • Partners with Direct Marketing colleagues on development of reunion appeals strategy.
  • Strategically plans events and programs in support of fundraising activities and partners closely with Alumni Relations to ensure partnership between Reunion fundraising and Reunion program committees and activities.

In collaboration with Reunion and Leadership Giving teams, works on special projects to advance overall fundraising objectives. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The salary range(s) are listed below, with the final salary based on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and internal equity considerations. Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and full-time equivalent hiring ranges:

  • Assistant Director: $61,050 - $76,300; 1-2 years experience
  • Associate Director level 1: $67,350 - $84,200; 2-3 years related professional experience
  • Associate Director level 2: $74,450 - $93,050; 3+ years related professional experience

Requirements This position requires a Bachelor's degree and, for the Assistant Director position, a minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in university fundraising settings or comparable settings that have afforded substantive responsibility with broad-based annual giving programs that work directly with donors and volunteer management. Proven record of soliciting and closing gifts of at least $1,000 and ability to articulate the case for annual support is required.
