Job Summary
Registered Nurse – 24‑hour overnight shift covering Friday and Saturday nights (7:15 p.m.–7:15 a.m.). The RN provides highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients using the nursing process. The position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and adherence to BORN regulations and professional standards of care. The RN may be assigned to one of several specialty areas, each with specific experience and certification requirements.
SpecialtyAreas and Key Requirements
- Adult GI: 2 years critical‑care/GI experience; ACLS required within first year; CCGRN preferred.
- Assisted Reproductive Technologies Clinic (ARTC): 1 year reproductive endocrinology experience; BSN required; ASRM RN certificate within first year.
- Cancer Center: 1 year chemotherapy experience; 3 years ambulatory oncology nursing preferred; OCN required within first year.
- Cardiovascular Center: 2 years critical‑care experience; cardiac ICU/CCU/surgery experience preferred; BLS/ACLS required.
- Device Clinic: 2 years device‑clinic experience; BCLS and ACLS required; HRS/NASP preferred.
- Emergency Department: 2 years ED experience; ACLS, PALS, CPI required within first year.
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU): 2 years critical‑care experience; ACLS required.
- Labor & Delivery / AETU: 2 years L&D experience; NRP required within first year.
- Maternal Fetal Medicine: 2 years perinatal experience; BSN & BLS required; ACLS preferred.
- Med/Surg: 1 year Med/Surg experience; telemetry training within first year.
- Mother/Baby: 2 years experience; NRP required within first year.
- Operating Room (OR): 2 years OR experience; AORN preferred.
- Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU): 2 years PACU experience; CAPA/CAPA preferred.
- Pediatrics: 2 years experience; NRP required within first year.
- Pedi GI: 2 years experience; PALS required within first year.
- Psychiatry: 2 years experience; CPI within first month.
- Stat RN: 2 years critical‑care/EMERGENCY nursing experience; ACLS, PALS, CPI required.
- Primary Care Triage RN: 2 years triage/urgent‑care experience; ANCC RN‑BC preferred.
- Adhere to hospital standards and use effective communication to build teamwork.
- Apply the nursing process and evidence‑based practice to provide high‑quality patient care.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of physical, psychological, spiritual, and cultural needs.
- Individualize care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Coordinate and deliver treatments, medications, and technical interventions following all safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including progress notes, medication administrations, and discharge instructions.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and manage critical care situations, including rapid response and code blue activations.
- Provide patient and family education tailored to individual learning needs and cultural contexts.
- Participate in performance‑improvement activities and quality assurance initiatives.
- Act as a resource and role model for peers, supporting onboarding and professional development.
- Education: Registered Nurse license;
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. - Licenses &
Certifications:
State RN license; specialty‑specific certifications as outlined above. - Experience: Clinical competence in the assigned specialty area; depth of experience varies by specialty.
- Key Knowledge &
Skills:
Nursing process, evidence‑based practice, infection control, medication administration, patient safety, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. - Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, and lifting frequently; ability to respond to emergency situations.
