Job Summary
The Customer Quality Engineer in Newton, MA is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance processes related to customer orders, ensuring that all products meet the specifications and expectations of our semiconductor and aerospace clients. The role collaborates closely with production, engineering, and customer service teams to address quality concerns, implement corrective actions, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications for refractory and alloy metals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality inquiries, specification requests, and concerns, including audit support.
- Investigate quality issues and non‑conformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate records of customer quality agreements, change control requirements, and customer feedback; prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with sales, production, engineering, procurement, and planning teams to integrate customer quality standards into all manufacturing and delivery processes.
- Provide customer‑specific training and support on quality standards, procedures, and best practices to foster a culture of quality.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (metallurgy, material science, chemistry, or chemical engineering preferred) and 4–5 years of experience in a quality‑related role working with metals.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems AS9100D and/or ISO
9001:2015 and industry standards relevant to semiconductor and aerospace applications. - Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and problem‑solving methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and customers.
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical skills and a commitment to quality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
- Experience with SAP and/or similar systems required.
- Preferred: ASQ certified Quality Engineer and Six Sigma green/black belt certification (or similar).
Salary range: $85,000 to $111,510.
