Under general direction and according to established procedures and specific instructions, install, repair or perform preventative maintenance on a variety of mechanical or plumbing equipment and hospital systems.
Essential Functions- Regularly install, repair, maintain and perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, electric, electronic, plumbing and other hospital systems and equipment per established procedures and specifications.
- Make assigned or emergency repairs to equipment, medical center buildings, grounds, facilities or systems within specified time frames.
- Adjust the facility's heating plant to ensure proper operation of equipment and adequate steam distribution for sterilization and occupant comfort.
- Employ plant procedures to maintain heating and cooling, fuel efficiency, water levels and chemical ratio.
- Conduct scheduled tours of hospital facilities to inspect and monitor mechanical, plumbing and electrical equipment, taking corrective action to keep equipment in safe operating condition.
- Clean, grease, lubricate equipment, change filters, belts and replace other parts as needed.
- Perform routine plumbing work such as unclogging toilets, sinks, drain lines and repairing or replacing faucets, shower heads, toilet seats, etc., using appropriate tools.
High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
ExperienceRelated experience in building maintenance 0-1 year preferred.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and equipment specifications and experience operating various power tools.
- Knowledge of equipment repair and installation.
- Preventative maintenance knowledge and boiler experience preferred.
