The Adoption Social Worker is a part-time, on-site role based in the Greater Boston area. This position focuses on supporting children, birth families, and adoptive families through all stages of the adoption process. Day-to-day tasks include conducting home studies and assessments, providing counseling and guidance to prospective adoptive parents, and facilitating pre- and post-placement visits. The Adoption Social Worker coordinates with legal and community partners, maintains accurate documentation, and ensures compliance with agency policies and state regulations.

The role also involves participating in case conferences, offering education and support groups, and advocating for the best interests of children in care.

• Ability to conduct psychosocial assessments, home studies, and develop family service plans.
• Skills in counseling, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care with children and adults.
• Strong case management abilities, including documentation, record-keeping, and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Capacity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, community agencies, and legal partners.
• Excellent communication skills, including clear written reports and empathetic, professional interpersonal interactions.
• Knowledge of adoption laws, child welfare systems, and ethical standards in social work practice.
• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related human services field; licensure or eligibility for licensure preferred.
• Experience in adoption, foster care, child welfare, or family services strongly beneficial.
• Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work with diverse families and communities.
• Ability to travel locally within Greater Boston for home visits and meetings; reliable transportation required.
