Job Summary

The Wind Farm Operator will support site operations through daily coordination of the safe, efficient and cost‑effective transfer of personnel and equipment from the onshore base to the offshore work sites (and vice versa) via marine vessels and helicopters. The operator ensures all necessary conditions are satisfied before staff can commence transit: work orders in place, tools and equipment available, staff competent/authorized, and sea/weather conditions within acceptable parameters.

The Wind Farm Operator will also remotely monitor and operate turbine status via SCADA to identify any issues that require corrective action.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate activities related to the transfer of personnel and equipment by vessels and/or helicopter to ensure that this is carried out safely, efficiently and cost‑effectively.
  • Support the planning of work schedules to maximize the most effective use of personnel and transfer vessels/helicopters.
  • Establish access parameters taking account of weather forecasts, sea conditions and light conditions to ensure consistent go/no‑go/stand‑down decisions, ensuring safe transit and access to work sites.
  • Monitor weather conditions to ensure the safety of personnel and optimize working time offshore.
  • Coordinate with National control center / Site HV Manager if HV switching is required; conduct HV switching operations.
  • Initiate and coordinate the project emergency response; initiate ERP where required to effectively resolve situations.
  • Ensure adherence to all H&S procedures associated with maritime/offshore working.
  • Act as Operational Controller under the WTSR.
  • Monitor WTG SCADA and act upon alarms/issues to ensure efficient response times and maximize generation.
  • Keep records of daily activities, usage of vessels and weather conditions.
  • Supply data to assist in short and long‑term maintenance planning.
  • Regularly update management on site activities to keep them informed of any issues or challenges experienced.
  • Operate offshore logistics efficiently in cooperation with Siemens and other contractors.
  • Optimize operational expenditure through efficient and safe marine control procedures.
  • Coordinate the movement and positions of vessels on the pontoon to ensure mobilization/demobilization is streamlined.
  • Support coordination of all marine traffic at the site, and vessels transiting between site and main port.
  • Monitor all vessel and personnel movements offshore using Personnel Tracking System (PTS) and Vessel Tracking System (VTS) to guarantee location of all personnel is known in case of emergency.
  • Ensure all personnel going offshore are suitably qualified and hold all necessary certifications.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Three or more years of experience in marine coordination or control‑room operator role.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems or Marine Control systems.
  • Excellent communication skills for smooth, efficient stakeholder communication.
  • Ability to gain authorization under the High Voltage Safety Rules.
  • Experience with VHF radio telecommunication systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable marine, aviation and port regulations.
  • Good IT skills in MS Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
