Sussex County Community College is looking for an Instructor of Mathematics. Reporting to the AVP of Academic Affairs & Dean of Faculty, this full time Mathematics Instructor will be a highly qualified, enthusiastic, student focused full time tenure track mathematics faculty member who representees a commitment to excellence in teaching and advocates the values of diversity, equity and inclusion. The successful candidate will have demonstrated successful strategies for the increased success of students in developmental and liberal arts math classes.

Each semester load will consist of a minimum of 15 credit hours plus additional time dedicated to office hours and providing student support. Duties and expectations of this positions include the following: excellence in teaching and using the Canvas learning management system; developing and supporting the math curricula; ensuring course assessment; undertaking professional development; applying the College's strategic plan; continuing service to the College;

student advisement and retention efforts; community outreach; and taking leadership roles when assigned. The successful candidate will contribute to the services of the College by serving on committees, collaborating with faculty and other college colleagues on College initiatives, and being a dedicated team plater within the STEM department. All of the above as considered essential to the success of the position.

The faculty member will contribute to student success by advising students and providing subject area expertise.

* Demonstrate active promotion of student mentorship and retention, including advisement.

* Participate in professional development through scholarship, creative activity and service.

* Assist in implementing an active research program involving undergraduates.

* Serve on college committees including the college governance process.

* Participate in curriculum development and textbook selection.

* Contribute to the department budget development.

* Collaborate within the department, as well as with cross-departmental initiatives.

* Demonstrate skill at networking with community partners.

* Provide support and oversight to the Business & Entrepreneurial Club and student organizations on campus.

* Embrace Campus Life initiatives that foster student involvement.

* Possess effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills as well as organizational skills, aimed at facilitating communication with supervisors/students/ colleagues.

* Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

* Master's degree required in mathematics or applied mathematics OR Bachelor's degree in either of the before mentioned degrees and a Master's in statistics or mathematics education or the equivalent.

* Minimum of two years teaching developmental and college level math at the community college level.
