Sussex County Community College is looking for an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education / Program Supervisor. Reporting to the AVP of Academic Affairs & Dean of Faculty, this full time Education and Child Development Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator position is a leadership role in the Professional Studies & Social Sciences Department and collaborates with both the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs & Dean of Faculty and Department members.

This faculty member must have a strong demonstrated background and expertise in the education and child development discipline and will contribute to a program that includes degrees and certificates in Liberal Arts Associate of Arts/Elementary & Secondary Education Option and the Child Development Specialist Associate of Applied Science degree and one-year certificate. Essential to the success of this position includes the following: excellence in teaching both in-class and online courses while utilizing the Canvas Learning Management System;

the development and implementation of curricula; ensuring course assessment; undertaking professional development; applying the college/departmental strategic plan; continuing service to the college; implementing community outreach; mentoring students; and taking leadership roles when assigned. The faculty member will contribute to student success by advising students and providing subject area expertise.

* Teach in-person day and evening classes, as well as online/hybrid classes per CBA guidelines.

* Ability to work with a broad spectrum of students found in a community college environment.

* Demonstrate active promotion of student mentorship and retention, including advisement.

* Contribute to Department administration and expansion

* Use of instructional technologies and techniques appropriate to the courses assigned.

* Contribute to Departmental budget development and assists in implementation.

* Responsible for all curriculum development, including syllabi and other curriculum-related materials for their discipline, as well as responsible to comply with all assessment initiatives, including the completion of program reviews.

* Participate in assessment of learning outcomes.

* Ability to collaborate with faculty in the selection and ordering of all Department textbooks.

* Provide support and oversight to subject area clubs and student organizations on campus.

* Serve on college committees including the college governance process.

* Partake in professional development.

* Collaborate within the department, as well as with cross-departmental initiatives.

* Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

* Master's degree required in discipline.

* Teaching license required.

* Experience in academic instruction in a post-secondary environment.

* Leadership position in a community or 4-year college.

* Leadership position in early childhood licensed school.

ESSENTIAL

* Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

* Outstanding organizational skills

* Skilled at networking with community partners.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the use of technology.
