Adjunct Instructor Position

Sussex County Community College is seeking highly qualified and motivated candidates interested in an adjunct instructor position to teach GRAD
138 Comic Book and GRAD
150 Storyboarding on our Newton campus. All courses have a two (2) hour lab each week.

A Bachelor's degree in Illustration or related field is required with proven experience in the industry. Specialized skills: A variety of illustration styles demonstrated with a professional portfolio. A Master's degree is highly preferred.

Position

Responsibilities Include:

• Preparing and providing course instruction and conducting classes in accordance with the philosophy of the college and within the scope of a defined course of study.
• Assisting students with coursework.
• Assessing student performance including but not limited to critiquing and evaluating student course work, taking attendance, grading assignments, projects, and exams in a timely fashion, and assisting students in achieving successful outcomes.
• Adhering to administrative time lines for submission of attendance, grades and other required documents.
• Ability to teach classes in a face-to-face classroom environment.
• Ability to use technology and interactive electronic materials to support teaching and learning, including Microsoft Suite programs.
• Ability to schedule office hours for student appointments.

Adjunct Instructors are responsible for providing high-quality delivery of course content to students in accordance with course competencies and College policies, using a variety of instructional techniques, strategies, and modalities/delivery methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

• The Learning Management System (LMS) that we use for our online, remote teaching and classroom support is Canvas. Prior knowledge of Canvas or similar learning platform is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills needed.
• 3+ years of applicable experience and prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong technical and computer proficiency is recommended.
• Availability to travel to campus when/if necessary.

Adjunct pay is based on $910 per credit hour.
