Position: Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA), PD, Surgery -Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center

Job Description

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) at Newton Medical Center. We are hiring per diem candidates, including new graduate RNFAs, who would like to be on‑call (either at home within 30 minutes of the hospital or in an on‑call room at the hospital). Availability: one weekend per month (48 hours) and four weekday on‑call shifts per month.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Utilize nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Collaborate through shared governance with all health‑care team members, promoting evidence‑based care within a healing culture for patients and families.
  • Demonstrate and embrace the PRIDE core values (Professionalism, Respect, Involvement, Dignity and Excellence) in every aspect of the job.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Assist with surgical cases including orthopedics and general surgery.
Relevant Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Must be credentialed by the Medical Staff Office.
  • Ability to scrub/assist in all specialties as assigned.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods, push, pull and lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Team player with strong communication and computer skills.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse program; BSN required.
  • Valid New Jersey nursing license required.
  • BLS/ACLS certification required.
  • Certificate from an accredited RNFA program required.
  • CNOR certification preferred.
