Job Description
The Program Manager serves as a key liaison between nursing leadership, clinical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and external accrediting bodies to promote a culture of inquiry, shared governance, patient-centered care, and professional development. The role coordinates Magnet documentation and readiness activities while developing and sustaining nursing research and evidence-based practice initiatives that strengthen nursing practice and professional engagement.
- Lead Magnet designation and redesignation activities, including gap assessments, documentation, site visit preparation, and ongoing compliance with Magnet standards.
- Design and implement strategies to enhance Shared Governance and promote evidence-based practice.
- Act as a resource to Shared Governance Councils and Magnet Champions, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Develop and review quality metric reports, identify performance gaps, and recommend improvement strategies aligned with Magnet standards.
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary teams to design, implement, and evaluate nurse-led research, EBP, and QI projects that improve outcomes and advance professional practice aligned with Magnet and organizational strategic initiatives.
- Develop educational programs related to nursing research, EBP, innovation, and Magnet principles.
- Collaborate with Nursing Quality to interpret nursing-sensitive indicators, including NDNQI data.
- Support the preparation and submission of IRB applications and ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and ethical standards related to research and professional nursing practice.
- Mentor and empower nurses at the unit and council level to participate in research and EBP activities that strengthen the culture of inquiry.
- Contribute to dissemination efforts by assisting with the preparation of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for internal and external presentations.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of research methodology, data analysis, and Magnet expectations.
- Work closely with the CNO, Nursing Executive Council, and other nursing leaders to align Magnet initiatives with organizational goals.
- Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice preferred.
- Master’s degree in Nursing and equivalent research experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Experience with Magnet designation/redesignation processes strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of nursing research methodologies, evidence-based practice, and professional practice frameworks.
- Strong project management, communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of New Jersey; must maintain registration and licensure in good standing throughout employment.
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development, Nurse Executive, or specialty area preferred.
