Job Description

Atlantic Health is seeking a Security Officer for the Security Department. Days and shift hours may vary.

Responsibilities
  • Work first, second, and third shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required; shifts may be 8 or 12 hours.
  • Be available for callback and re‑call.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for at least 4 hours at a time.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and complete an AHS approved physical control tactics course.
  • Operate computers and the department’s computer system skillfully.
  • Engage with patients, visitors, and staff professionally.
  • Conduct safety tours, respond to emergencies, perform investigations, gather information, and complete electronic reports.
  • De‑escalate violent or threatening individuals.
  • Be exposed to bio‑hazards such as blood, vomit, saliva, and urine; pass an N95 fit test and wear an N95 or surgical mask as required.
  • Complete orientation on one or more shifts during the initial period.
  • Flex schedule to accommodate organizational staffing needs.
  • Work shifts of varying durations, including 8 and 12 hours.
Qualifications

Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean record.
Minimum Experience
  • Prior law enforcement, fire service, EMS, or behavioral health experience highly preferred.
  • Former military or reserve military candidates preferred.
  • Thorough background checks conducted.
  • Ability to write detailed reports and strong verbal skills.
Licenses / Certifications
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • High school diploma plus military, law enforcement, fire service, emergency medical service or security experience may be considered in lieu of an associate’s degree.
