Job DetailsTitle:
Mechanical Installation Technician III
Duration: 12‑month contract
Location:
Newton, NC (project sites include Newton and Hickory, NC)
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
Hours:
40 hrs per week (overtime expected; periodic off‑hours coverage may be required)
Travel:
Project sites will vary between Newton and Hickory, NC

Scope of Position: This role is part of the Engineering Project team, focused on capacity additions and the associated line installations and debugging from a mechanical perspective. You will lead or participate in manufacturing engineering projects, supporting teams for capacity installations, equipment debugging, and preparing line/part equipment for operations receivership. You will provide mechanical discipline to proactively identify technical problems through root‑cause analysis and develop robust industrial solutions.
- Leverage mechanical engineering knowledge, machining and design processes to improve equipment performance.
- Support development and execution of project plans to deliver timely, error‑free mechanical support for multi‑line equipment installations.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to resolve technical issues, protecting scope, timing, and cost metrics.
- Work across functional groups daily to accomplish project goals.
- Maintain safe work practices and report hazardous conditions or personal practices.
- Manage installation and debugging activities to meet milestones.
- Design and implement mechanical solutions and process improvements.
- Analyze data and collaborate with subject‑matter experts to solve mechanical and process issues.
- Identify and manage spare part inventory within plant footprint.
- Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.
- Provide training for operations workforce on equipment or operational changes.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery.
- Align, test, and calibrate mechanical systems after installation.
- Diagnose complex mechanical failures and recommend solutions.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Collaborate with other departments to implement process improvements.
- Ability to learn new technologies and processes quickly.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work independently in a fast‑paced project install/manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with PC software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills.
- Expertise in mechanical systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gear systems, and conveyors.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in industrial settings.
- Basic computer skills for maintaining records and using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

Education:
Associate’s degree
Required Years and Area of
Experience:
3+ years in new equipment installations in a manufacturing environment (startup experience is a plus); experience in fast‑paced changing environments with multiple priorities.
Certifications: Relevant mechanical or industrial certifications (e.g., Millwright, HVAC, Welding) are a plus. OSHA or other safety certifications may be required.
Desired Skills- Hands‑on experience in commercial manufacturing equipment.
