Equipment Engineer

We're hiring an Equipment Integration Lead to support a leading manufacturing organization in Newton, NC. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing environments and enjoys leading equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and optimization projects from concept through production handoff.

12-Month Contract with Possible Extension

Occasional overtime may be required during installation and startup phases.

• Lead equipment integration projects from concept, installation, and startup through commissioning and qualification handoff
• Coordinate activities across manufacturing, process engineering, facilities, quality, EHS, automation, and supply chain teams
• Define project scope, timelines, milestones, budgets, and resource requirements
• Manage equipment vendors through design reviews, FAT/SAT, installation, and acceptance activities
• Oversee equipment setup, testing, debugging, and performance optimization
• Drive structured troubleshooting and root cause investigations using data and statistical analysis
• Develop and maintain project documentation, SOPs, risk assessments, work instructions, and turnover packages
• Track project risks, schedules, budgets, and provide stakeholder updates
• Support training of operations and maintenance teams on newly integrated equipment
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, throughput, and equipment uptime

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field
• Several years of experience in equipment integration, manufacturing engineering, or capital project execution
• Proven success leading equipment installation, startup, and commissioning efforts
• Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills
• Experience with CAD software and statistical analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, or equivalent
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities

• Six Sigma certification or formal continuous improvement training
• Experience with FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ validation methodologies
• Knowledge of CMMS, ERP, or engineering documentation systems
• PMP certification or equivalent project management training
• Experience with in optical fiber, advanced manufacturing, or regulated high-tech industries
