Process Engineer
Corning's fiber optic cable manufacturing team is seeking a Process Engineer to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes that drive quality, efficiency, and capability improvements. This is a hands-on engineering role with broad project ownership — from data-driven process analysis and problem solving to capital equipment introduction and new technology transfer.
Primary Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Analyze process data to assess capability, monitor trends, and drive continued manufacturing excellence
- Provide problem-solving support to production operations; lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions using scientific, data-driven methods
- Identify, prioritize, and manage process improvement and cost reduction projects
- Oversee all aspects of capital equipment introduction — including financial justification, design, specification, procurement, qualification, and training documentation
- Support the transfer of new cabling technologies, materials, and processes from development to production; ensure repeatability and completeness of all production and maintenance documentation
- Partner with operators, maintenance, and engineering teams to develop and implement process, equipment, and safety improvements

Experiences/Education
- Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experiences/Education
- Desired:
- Experience with statistical software such as Origin Pro or Minitab
- Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, PDCA)
- Knowledge of plastic extrusion technologies, cabling processes and equipment, and/or UV curable technologies
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience
- Project management experience including cost estimation, planning, and execution
- Experience programming PLCs in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with statistical process control fundamentals
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $84,932.00 - $ assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
