Bringing Home the DoughThe machine operator is capable of contributing to all phases of the team-oriented production process. Included is the operation of automated production equipment, primary diagnosis of machinery failures, aiding in preventative maintenance, and sanitation of all related equipment. Operators are expected to become fully versed in the entire production process. They must be flexible and adaptable, rotating job assignments throughout production, monitoring both equipment and product according to acceptable standards, and making real-time, accurate decisions that affect order fulfillment and product quality.
Operators must also maintain a safe work environment for themselves and fellow operators. The position requires mastery of Enterprise software for data input, retrieval, reporting, and other functions. It ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.) and performs other duties deemed integral by management, including adherence to work schedules and attendance policies.
Competency in all on-the-job activities that may affect product safety, legality, and/or quality is required.
Position Responsibilities
- Checks and adheres to production work schedule for job assignments and work reporting times.
- Operators may be assigned to operate facility metal detector(s); therefore, all operators must be fully trained and certified.
- Performs start-up/shut-down sanitation and limited preventative maintenance on machinery.
- Ensures that work areas are clean, organized, and adhere to applicable safety rules at all times.
- Checks and maintains production schedules, running order, and formulas.
- Scales and stages ingredients according to standards.
- Ensures that all product is loaded into proper containers.
- Performs quality control inspections and continuously monitors for acceptable governmental and company standards.
- May be called on to provide scheduled breaks for Machine Operators on assigned shift.
- Position requires ability to act as a member of a highly functioning team.
- Performs other duties as directed by supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
One or more years’ experience as a technician and/or formal training with certificate of completion. Experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; welding, electronics, electrical repairs, industrial equipment installations, alignment, start-up repairs, etc. Two (2) years as machine operator in a manufacturing environment providing documentation of said responsibilities, or six (6) months as a Production Helper, with a good work/disciplinary/attendance record.
High School diploma or equivalency (GED) plus additional no less than a 9/12 month vocational/technical certification courses completion. Equivalent military training with provided (DD214), other related technical training, or (1) or more years of college education (minimum 45 earned college credits) may be substituted for Vocational Technical Training. Or Completion of the AIB correspondence course.
