Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to support manufacturing operations by ensuring products consistently meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. This role will lead root cause investigations, drive corrective actions, improve quality systems, and partner with operations and suppliers to reduce defects and improve overall manufacturing performance.
The ideal candidate is analytical, hands-on, and passionate about continuous improvement, with experience supporting quality initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other applicable quality standards.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and other structured problem-solving tools.
- Develop and maintain inspection plans, sampling procedures, control plans, and quality documentation.
- Monitor manufacturing processes using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and analyze data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support PPAP submissions, Process FMEAs, Control Plans, and other Advanced Quality Planning activities.
- Investigate customer complaints, internal non-conformances, and supplier quality issues to ensure timely resolution.
- Partner with suppliers and procurement to improve incoming material quality and supplier performance.
- Manage calibration programs for inspection and testing equipment.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and maintenance to improve process capability and reduce defects.
- Participate in internal and external audits while supporting ongoing compliance initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949).
- Experience with SPC, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and CAPA.
- Strong problem-solving skills utilizing 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, or similar methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally throughout the organization.
Preferred Experience
- Plastics, rubber, polymer, compounding, extrusion, or injection molding manufacturing.
- Experience identifying molding defects such as flash, splay, short shots, contamination, moisture issues, sink marks, or warpage.
- Experience using melt flow indexers, tensile testers, colorimeters, or other laboratory testing equipment.
- Knowledge of polymer material properties and processing.
Ideal Background
Candidates with experience in plastics, rubber, automotive, medical device, or other high-volume manufacturing environments who enjoy solving quality problems, analyzing data, and working directly with production teams will be especially successful.
