Job Title: Mechanical Technician IV

Location: Newton, NC (Onsite)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional overtime

Pay: $38.00–$41.00 per hour

Duration: 1-year contract

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician IV to support engineering projects related to manufacturing capacity additions, production line installations, equipment debugging, and mechanical readiness. This role provides hands‑on mechanical expertise to ensure successful equipment installation, startup, and optimization within a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and equipment installation experience, including the ability to drill and tap holes, install equipment, troubleshoot complex mechanical systems, and work independently in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting. Candidates with HVAC or service technician backgrounds are not the desired fit for this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing engineering projects involving equipment installations, production line expansions, and capacity additions.
  • Manage equipment installation, alignment, testing, calibration, and debugging activities to meet project milestones.
  • Design and implement mechanical solutions that improve manufacturing equipment performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, gear systems, conveyors, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Analyze equipment and process issues to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Develop and maintain engineering and operational documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, vendors, suppliers, and operations personnel to support project execution.
  • Manage spare parts identification and inventory recommendations.
  • Train operations personnel on new equipment and process changes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain safe work practices and comply with all industrial safety requirements.
  • Travel between project locations within the Newton and Hickory, NC area as needed.
Required skills
  • Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting new equipment installations in a manufacturing environment; startup experience is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical and equipment installation experience.
  • Hands‑on experience drilling, tapping holes, assembling, installing, and debugging manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing capacity additions, production line installations, equipment debugging, and mechanical readiness.
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Expertise with hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, gear systems, conveyor systems, pumps, and other industrial mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross‑functional teams.
Preferred skills
  • Project leadership or project management experience.
  • Experience managing vendors and suppliers during equipment installation projects.
  • CAD experience.
  • Relevant mechanical or industrial certifications, such as Millwright or Welding.
  • OSHA or other industrial safety certifications.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing startup or large‑scale equipment installation projects.
