Job DescriptionThe Electronics Technician will work in an engineering lab environment to prototype and test new engineering designs in close collaboration with engineers. This role focuses on daily testing activities, including weather and pressure testing, as well as technical simulation work to validate and refine prototype units. The technician will support the full test lifecycle, from set‑up and calibration through troubleshooting and rework, contributing directly to the development of advanced instrumentation and recording systems.
Responsibilities- Work closely with engineers in a digital engineering environment to prototype and evaluate new designs.
- Perform daily testing activities, including weather testing, pressure testing, and other environmental simulations on prototype units.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate test equipment, instruments, and mechanical assemblies in an engineering lab setting.
- Test and troubleshoot electronic circuits, components, assemblies, and final systems to ensure proper functionality and performance.
- Determine and, when needed, develop test specifications, methods, and procedures based on blueprints, drawings, and diagrams.
- Conduct technical simulations to validate design performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Complete rework on assemblies and systems as required based on test results and troubleshooting findings.
- Assist in the selection and set‑up of specialized test equipment needed for specific test programs.
- Document test results, issues, and corrective actions clearly and communicate findings effectively to engineering partners.
- Handle multiple testing assignments simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines and project timelines.
- Previous technician experience, preferably in an electronics or test‑focused role.
- Experience working in a digital environment in close collaboration with engineers.
- Strong communication skills to effectively partner with engineering teams and report test findings.
- Hands‑on experience with electronics, including set‑up, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and diagrams to determine test specifications, methods, and procedures.
- Proficiency in testing and troubleshooting assemblies and final systems, including identifying and resolving issues discovered during testing.
- Ability to perform rework on assemblies and systems based on test outcomes.
- Familiarity with selecting and setting up specialized test equipment for various test applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–3 years of experience in a related field.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Technical or trade school education in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with prototype designs and early‑stage engineering units.
- Background in instrumentation, data acquisition, or flight test‑related systems is beneficial.
- Exposure to sensors, recorders, or data collection systems used in aerospace or similar industries is an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively in a structured lab environment with established test procedures and standards.
This role is 100% onsite in an engineering lab located in Newtown, PA. The lab features electro‑static flooring and is equipped with pressure testing equipment designed to simulate space and other demanding environments. The work centers around instrumentation‑based flight test systems, including recorders and acquisition products used with various sensors for applications such as commercial aircraft, military testing, and emerging battery‑powered air vehicles.
The position operates on a single shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Lab attire is required while working in the engineering lab.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newtown, PA.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
