Assistant Controller

A well-established, high-growth U.S. industrial distribution company (backed by a strong parent organization) is seeking a high-performing Assistant Controller to join its corporate finance team.

This organization operates a decentralized, multi-warehouse model with significant national scale (over $1B+ in annual billing) and is known for operational excellence, continuous investment in systems, and a performance-driven culture.

This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for core accounting operations across multiple locations. You’ll play a key role in monthly and annual close, financial analysis, audits, and cross‑functional collaboration with field operations.

• Managing and reviewing monthly/year‑end close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Analyzing financial data to identify trends, variances, and operational insights
• Supporting internal and external audits with strong documentation and process knowledge
• Partnering with operational teams to explain results and resolve issues
• Leading and supporting process and system improvement initiatives
• Performing ad hoc analysis related to billing, margins, and performance

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Accounting preferred)
• 3+ years of experience in a similar accounting or controllership role
• Strong Excel skills (VBA a plus) and comfort learning new systems
• Experience working in multi‑location or distribution/manufacturing environments is a plus
• CPA not required (but welcomed)
• Willingness to travel ~10% domestically to operating locations
