Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for their Newtown Primary Care office. This position will be Monday-Friday and will require one evening shift per week and a rotating Saturday shift. The shift will be based on the operational need.

The Licensed Practical Nurse performs routine nursing care of the ill, injured or infirm under the direction of a licensed professional (RN) nurse, nurse practitioner and/or a physician. The LPN participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care in accordance with the scope of the LPN as defined by the State Board of Nursing and health system standards. Also supports operations through administrative duties as required.

The nurse must demonstrate competence in caring for patients with moderate to complex health issues and assist the Site Manager with administrative issues which affect the clinical practices within the office as well as comply with the administrative policies and clinical protocols as outlined in policy and procedure manual. Administratively responsible to the Site Manager and Ambulatory Nursing Director for nursing practice issues.

Must be willing to rotate if needed to other Care Network sites within the designated cluster.

• Provide and document direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
• Nursing care is guided by physician orders and the plan of care. Patient response to care is reported to a registered nurse or physician for evaluation, intervention and modification of the plan of care.
• Assist other health care personnel in the delivery of patient care.
• Participate in maintaining the environment of care including equipment and other material resources.
• Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies and attending educational offerings. Supports the development of other staff and formal learners.
• Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assists in performance improvement activities.
• The LPN may administer medications that are with their scope of practice and organizational standards only if the following conditions are met: a) the LPN has received and satisfactorily completed a Board approved educational program which requires study and supervised clinical practice intended to provide training necessary for administering immunizing agents. b)
