Description
- Equine Care
- Feed and water horses according to established schedules.
- Groom horses, including brushing, hoof cleaning, and basic tack maintenance.
- Monitor each horse's health and behavior; promptly report any signs of illness, injury, or distress to the Farm Manager.
- Assist with turnout and bring-in routines, ensuring paddocks and pastures are secure.
- Stall and Barn Maintenance
- Clean and bed stalls daily: remove manure, distribute fresh bedding, and sanitize feeders/water buckets.
- Maintain cleanliness of aisles, tack rooms, grooming areas, and wash racks.
- Sweep walkways and gather debris to prevent slips and falls.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and supplies (shovels, pitchforks, wheelbarrows, grooming tools) are cleaned and stored properly after use.
- Experience & Knowledge
- Prior experience working on a horse farm, stable, or similar agricultural environment preferred.
- Basic understanding of horse behavior, health indicators, and safe handling practices.
- Familiarity with equine feeding schedules, grooming techniques, and stall-cleaning procedures.
- Skills & Abilities
- Strong work ethic with the ability to perform manual labor for extended periods (lifting, bending, shoveling).
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively under minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills-comfortable working with a small team and taking direction.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Physical Requirements
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable standing, walking, and handling physical tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to climb ladders, navigate uneven terrain, and work around large animals safely.
