Experienced Lead Dental Assistant

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Dental Assistant to join our dental practice.

The Lead Dental Assistant will be responsible for providing excellent chairside assistance while serving as a leader and resource for the dental assisting team. This position is ideal for an experienced dental assistant who is organized, dependable, confident, and capable of keeping the clinical side of the practice running efficiently.

The Lead Dental Assistant will work closely with the dentist, dental assistants, hygienists, and front-office team to ensure a smooth patient experience and efficient daily operations.

• Provide excellent chairside assistance to the dentist
• Prepare treatment rooms and instruments for scheduled procedures
• Assist with restorative, crown and bridge, endodontic, periodontal, oral surgery, and other dental procedures as applicable
• Take digital X-rays and other diagnostic images as permitted by Connecticut regulations
• Maintain proper sterilization and infection-control procedures
• Set up and turn over operatories efficiently
• Maintain adequate supplies and communicate when supplies need to be ordered
• Monitor equipment and report maintenance issues
• Assist with maintaining OSHA and HIPAA compliance
• Keep the clinical area clean, organized, and fully prepared
• Help ensure the daily schedule stays on time

• Serve as the senior resource for the dental assisting team
• Train and mentor new dental assistants and interns
• Help establish and maintain consistent clinical protocols
• Coordinate daily duties among dental assistants
• Monitor sterilization and infection-control procedures
• Help maintain efficient room turnover and workflow
• Communicate clinical needs to the dentist and office manager
• Assist with ordering and maintaining dental supplies
• Help identify workflow issues and recommend solutions
• Support a positive, professional, team-oriented workplace
• Lead by example and maintain high standards of patient care

• 3+ years of dental assisting experience preferred
• Previous lead or senior dental assistant experience strongly preferred
• Strong chairside assisting skills
• Experience with digital radiography
• Knowledge of sterilization and infection-control procedures
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to train and mentor other dental assistants
• Dependable, professional, and punctual
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced dental environment
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
• Appropriate Connecticut dental assisting/radiology credentials as required
• Experience with dental practice-management software preferred

We are looking for someone who is more than an experienced chairside assistant.

The ideal candidate is someone who can take ownership of the back office, anticipate the dentist's needs, keep the assisting team organized, train new team members, maintain high clinical standards, and help the practice operate efficiently.

$30–$35 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
