Health/ PE Enrichment Teacher BASES (Before and After School Extended Services)
Location:
Newtown and New Fairfield BASES Sites
Hours:
4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 1 hour onsite daily plus 3 hours off-site planning time weekly = 8 hours per week
EdAdvance is seeking a certified Elementary School Teacher for our BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) After School Program in Newtown and New Fairfield. The ideal candidate is a dedicated professional, with proven experience working with elementary‑aged children. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to design and lead engaging physical activities for students in grades K‑5.
Operating as the PE Enrichment Teacher, you will develop programming for after‑school hours (4:00-5:00pm) under the direct supervision of the BASES Administrative Team.
- Coordinate with the Site Coordinator and BASES Administrative Team on timelines and activities to meet grant requirements
- Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment
- Understand, follow, and maintain all licensing regulations set by the state of CT Office of Early Childhood
- Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel
- Implement grant‑funded physical education and SEL enrichment within existing after school program
- Align state standards for literacy curriculum between district and after school program
- Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled (usually evenings)
- Assist with data collection as required by the grant
- Other duties as may be assigned
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
- Valid Connecticut Teacher Certification Required
- Bachelor's Degree in education required, PE focus preferred
- Proven experience working with elementary school‑aged children
- High degree of energy and enthusiasm for working in a well‑rounded after school program setting
- Knowledge of Child Development
- Awareness of Age‑Appropriate curriculum activities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
