Job Description & How to Apply Below
About SMT, Corp.
SMT Corp. is recognized as the industry leader in counterfeit electronics detection and supply chain assurance, providing mission‑critical components and verification services for high‑reliability applications.
About the role- We are looking for a highly organized and analytical Production Planner / Expediter to join our team. This role is the "nerve center" of our production floor, bridging the gap between customer order and finished goods. You will be responsible for creating achievable production schedules, tracking work‑in‑progress (WIP), and "greasing the wheels" of the production process to ensure on‑time delivery to our customers.
The ideal candidate possesses a mix of strategic foresight and tactical urgency. Someone who can spot a bottleneck on a spreadsheet before it happens on the floor.
- Production Scheduling:
Develop and maintain daily/weekly production schedules based on customer demand, machine capacity, and labor availability. - Order Expediting:
Proactively track the movement of jobs through various departments. Identify delays and "push" critical orders through the system to meet tight deadlines. - Data Management:
Utilize advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, etc.) and ERP/MRP systems to maintain accurate lead times. - Process Flow Optimization:
Analyze the production workflow to identify inefficiencies. Coordinate with department heads to resolve material shortages or equipment downtime. - Communication Bridge:
Serve as the primary point of contact between Sales, Purchasing, and Operations to provide real‑time updates on order status.
- Excel Fluency:
You should be comfortable managing large datasets. If you find joy in a well‑organized spreadsheet and nested formulas, you’ll thrive. - Process Fluency: A deep understanding of production life cycles—from work order creation to final quality inspection.
- Attention to Detail:
You’ll be managing hundreds of line items. Precision is non‑negotiable. - Problem‑Solving Agility:
When a machine breaks or a shipment is late, you need the ability to pivot the entire schedule without breaking a sweat. - Education/
Experience:
Willing to train entry level candidates who show the problem solving and technical acumen to succeed. - 8AM‑5PM
- Must be able to commute daily to 14 High Bridge Road Sandy Hook, CT 06482
