Low Voltage Technician – Newtown, CT
Job Type: Full Time
About the OpportunityWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Low Voltage Technician to join a growing team. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role for an experienced professional who can take ownership of projects, work independently in the field, and support project execution across a wide range of low‑voltage installations.
Key Responsibilities- Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems, including:
- Cat5e
- Cat6
- Cat6a
- Fiber optic cabling
- Install and service low‑voltage systems, including:
- Access control systems (door controllers, badge readers, etc.)
- Security and surveillance systems (IP cameras, NVRs)
- Audio/Visual systems
- Support project execution to ensure successful completion of installations and upgrades.
- Take ownership of assigned job sites by:
- Reviewing plans and project layouts
- Coordinating daily work activities
- Managing project milestones and timelines
- Ensuring quality standards are consistently met
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues during installations and service calls.
- Perform inspections, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs of existing low‑voltage infrastructure.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and maintain a professional presence on‑site.
- Experience as a Low Voltage Technician, Low Voltage Installer, Cable Technician, Inspector, or Audio Visual Technician.
- Strong knowledge of low‑voltage cabling and structured wiring systems.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting:
- Access control systems
- CCTV/IP camera systems
- Security systems
- Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- T1/T2 and/or E1/E2 License preferred (where applicable).
- Experience with system installations and integration.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Experience managing job sites and coordinating project execution.
- Leadership abilities with a proactive, ownership‑focused mindset.
- Existing commercial structures and infrastructure upgrade projects.
- Maintenance, service, and retrofit work.
- Field‑based work at customer locations.
- Fast‑paced environment with diverse project types and technical challenges.
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
