Moog Space and Defense Group is projecting significant growth driven by high levels of U.S. Department of Defense spending and continued desire for space exploration. The Engines Business Unit at the Moog Niagara Falls site supplies rocket engines, propellant tanks, and propulsion systems for a variety of spacecraft, launch vehicle, and strategic defense missions.

We are looking for an Associate Project Engineer to be the technical lead and point of contact for customers on design and development, and production programs for space propulsion hardware. The successful candidate will coordinate the work of designers, drafters, technicians, analysts, and other key members of a project team in the pursuit of successful project execution. Working jointly with the program manager, the associate project engineer shares responsibility for execution of cost and schedule targets throughout the course of a project.

Facilitative leadership between program management, quality, and operations groups will be required in this role. The project engineer will report directly to the Product and Project Engineering Manager.

This position will be based primarily out of the Niagara Falls facility, however travel between Niagara Falls and East Aurora facilities may also be required depending on the needs of particular programs.

To be considered for the Associate Project Engineer, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline. Mechanical or Aerospace preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related product or project engineering experience, with a proven track record of successful completion of projects.
  • Experience interfacing with customers and demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong technical foundation. Previous experience supporting propulsion hardware preferred but not required.
  • Self-starting instincts and an eagerness to own all aspects of an assigned project.
  • This position requires a full physical which includes bloodwork and pulmonary function testing.
  • Must have the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance
As an Associate Project Engineer, you will:
  • Serve responsible engineer and technical point of contact to customers on production of space propulsion hardware, primarily with rocket engines and chemical propulsion systems.
  • Preparation of engineering reports associated with assigned projects and/or models.
  • Lead and coordinate efforts of supporting engineering functions, e.g., Product Engineering, Design Engineering, Drafting, Analysis.
  • Author/prepare production assembly and test documentation and procedures.
  • Lead engineering support for hot fire of rocket engines for production programs.
  • Coordination of development and production hardware fabrication, assembly, and test.
  • Assist bid and proposal of new projects providing scope definitions, defining project schedules, assessing technical compliance, technical volume generation, and providing engineering estimates.
