Position: LEAD MOTOR VEHICLE DISPATCHER with Security Clearance
Duties
* Leads three or more emergency services/911dispatchers in the performance of dispatching related duties.
* Maintains maps, checklists and charts, including automated programs.
* Operates and maintains telephones, automated data processing equipment, printers, recorders, facsimile equipment, and other devices installed in the dispatch center.
* Prepares and maintains reports and records relating to emergency responses.
* Participates in all areas of the fire protection training program relating to the operations of the dispatch center and perform work in safe manner. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

* Incumbent will be required to obtain International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Certification;
Hazardous Materials Awareness and Telecommunicator Level I/II, within 1 year of appointment.
* Incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule which requires an uncommon tour of duty (including weekends and holidays).
* Incumbent is required to perform critical services regardless of weather conditions or base closure and report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled work time.
* Required to respond on off-duty time when requested, stay over until an emergency has been terminated, or until properly relieved by a qualified dispatcher.
* Incumbent must participate in recurrent proficiency training, as required. May be required to participation contingency situations, real world, and exercise, as directed
* May be required to travel TDY as directed by management.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
* Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance as a condition of employment.
* Works in close harmony with supervisors' co-workers and others during day-to-day routines and during emergencies. EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a body of standardized transportation regulations, procedures, operations and federal and state laws, policies and procedures related to the fleet management function to perform a full range of dispatching duties and resolve recurring problems.

Knowledge of geographic area served. Knowledge of the characteristics and capacity of the transportation equipment being dispatched to resolve recurring problems and coordinate actions. Knowledgeable of vehicle safety rules, regulations, and guidance. Knowledge of one or more automated transportation databases sufficient to input a range of standard information to maintain dispatch logs and records. Knowledge of contingency operations to real world/exercise emergency situations pertaining to vehicle operations.

Knowledge of proper use of communications radios and procedures. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
