JOB SUMMARY

Directs sales efforts for assigned markets and manages all related activities, including timely follow-up on RFPs, site visits, client entertainment, and the execution of proposals and contracts. This role is responsible for proactively soliciting and developing new business for the Niagara Falls Convention Center (NFCC), while delivering exceptional customer service and expert guidance to meeting planners throughout the planning process. Works closely with the Sales team at Destination Niagara USA to align strategies, leverage destination resources, and maximize meeting opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Proactively pursues size-appropriate business within the designated markets that align with the building and destination.
• Drives the successful achievement of the NFCC's short- and long-term sales goals and objectives.
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of the time-sensitive nature of returning calls, preparing proposals, and providing prospective clients with accurate, relevant information.
• Collaborates with the Office Coordinator to develop professional proposals and contracts that meet client needs while highlighting the Convention Center, destination, and community.
• Prepares and maintains ongoing sales activity reports for the Director of Sales
• Partners with and accompanies Destination Niagara USA sales team in promoting the Convention Center and the destination.
• Participates in weekly meetings with the Director of Sales to provide updates on outstanding groups and to collaboratively plan for space utilization and revenue potential.
• Provides the Director of Finance complete and accurate documentation for deposits, payments, and funds to ensure clients meet all financial obligations.
• Conducts site visits with prospective clients in coordination with Destination Niagara USA sales team.
• Follows up on all completed business to identify rebooking opportunities and documents successes and opportunities for improvement.
• Assists and advises the Director of Sales, as needed, in the preparation of an accurate budget.
• Maintains a well-informed and working knowledge of the convention & tourism products and services available across Niagara County.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong organizational and project management skills including team collaboration and coalition building.
• Excellent written and oral communication and organization skills
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems and work independently.
• Positive, diplomatic, professional attitude.
• Proficient in all general office suite applications, experienced in email platforms and the ability to learn new software applications relevant to the position.
• Willing and able to travel outside of the region using all modes of transportation including use of personal vehicle, travel to include nights and weekends.
• Must have valid passport/enhanced driver's license.
• Knowledge/ familiarity of the Western New York region and specifically Niagara County.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Bachelor's degree in related field OR a minimum of five years of experience in a sales position, preferably in the tourism/hospitality industry. CRM experience a plus.
