Substitute Teacher

LEARN, southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for Substitute Teacher openings at The Friendship School in Waterford, Connecticut. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining the classroom program in the absence of the regular classroom teacher and is responsible to the Principal of the school. Responsibilities include maintaining each student's learning in a well-organized, positive classroom environment, working cooperatively with staff, parents, colleagues, and administrators, maintaining professional attitudes and competence, effectively managing student behavior, following guidelines with regard to record keeping, documentation, and reporting, communicating matters pertaining to self, student, program and agency to the classroom teacher, modeling appropriate social skills and behaviors, directing and monitoring instructional assistants and other persons assigned to the classroom, being mindful of any problem or special information about individual students, alerting administrator to any problem, information, or situations, which may require further action, being punctual in meeting daily time schedules, performing other duties associated with the substitute teaching position, training new users at LEARN and in the region in student data applications, assessing information systems results by auditing their application and results, attending initial meetings with potential member districts to assess services LEARN can provide, building effective relations with all internal and external stakeholders in order to be a strategic and resourceful partner, maintaining awareness of the latest technology, trends, and developments related to Power School, and other duties as appropriately assigned.
