Job Description:

The Dean of Health Sciences provides visionary leadership, comprehensive planning, and operational oversight for all Health Sciences programs. The Dean is responsible for academic program quality, budget management, faculty supervision, and regulatory compliance. This role is expected to inspire positive change, ensuring the College fulfills its mission while meeting the evolving workforce needs of the community.

Strategic Leadership & Administration

* Develop and execute strategic and operational plans for the Health Sciences division to ensure safe, efficient, and effective programming.

* Develop and recommend academic policies and procedures to the Vice President of Academic Affairs; ensure division compliance with College, state, and federal regulations.

* Conduct trend and data analysis to inform decision-making; prepare capital, operational, and personnel requests based on data-driven needs.

* Serve as the primary liaison between the division and administration; facilitate effective communication of College policies, procedures, and goals to faculty and staff.

Academic Program Management

* Provide support to program directors, as needed, in the development, implementation, and evaluation of courses and programs, including distance learning and student learning outcomes (SLOs).

* Coordinate comprehensive program reviews, feasibility studies for new programs, and recommendations for program sun setting/teach-outs.

* Oversee specialized programmatic accreditation and ensure adherence to SACSCOC principles; coordinate site visits and required reporting.

* Oversee the creation and management of quarterly and yearly course schedules to maximize enrollment and student access.

* Oversee the establishment and maintenance of clinical affiliation agreements/contracts with hospitals and healthcare facilities to ensure sufficient clinical placement slots for students.

* In collaboration with program directors, ensure all simulation labs and training equipment meet industry safety standards and are maintained in accordance with OSHA and healthcare regulations.

Financial & Grant Management

* Create and administer division and departmental budgets; manage Perkins funding, operating costs, and capital equipment requests.

* Identify, pursue, and manage grant opportunities to support program growth and faculty development.

* Submit required state and federal reports.

* Perform cost/benefit analyses of programs and operations as directed by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Personnel Supervision & Development

* Anticipate personnel needs; chair hiring committees; review and approve staff appointments.

* Supervise, mentor, and evaluate full-time and part-time faculty, program directors, and support staff.

* Manage the resolution of student, faculty, and staff issues within the division; handle disciplinary matters in consultation with legal counsel when necessary.

* Plan for faculty professional development and maintain own knowledge of educational technology and industry trends.

Community Relations & Compliance

* Represent the College at state-level councils, local workforce teams, and community committees; interact with government officials and regulatory agencies.

* Actively engage with Program Advisory Committees to ensure curriculum aligns with current healthcare industry standards and workforce demands.

* Complete annual mandatory risk management and compliance training.

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

* Master's degree from an accredited postsecondary institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; doctorate strongly preferred.

* At least three (3) years of academic administrative experience in a postsecondary setting.

* At least three (3) years of postsecondary teaching experience or the equivalent of such experience, preferably in a primary education field represented in the Academic Unit.

* Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills, and the ability to design and implement effective programs in the area of supervision.

* Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive, professional, interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrators in all areas of the College and community.

* Demonstrated ability to communicate programmatic accountability and quality student learning.
