Job Description

Duties

  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates the planning, programming and budgeting activities of the squadron, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements to meet Air Force and MAJCOM requirements.
  • Actively participates in strategic planning to improve organizational direction and focus using strategic resource planning tools and techniques.
  • Prepares and delivers oral presentations such as briefings, training sessions, consultations, and strategy sessions with other staff service functions and activities to secure cooperation, resolve controversial matters, and convey information relative to proposed changes in assignments.
  • Performs/leads studies and coordinates the logistics and supply of squadron laboratories and mobile test facilities. Responsible for smooth operations, to include working with squadron leadership, that ensures efficient flow of operations to meet wing and MAJCOM objectives.

  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

  • May travel by military or commercial air to conferences, meetings, or other functions away from the duty site.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a top-secret security clearance. Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Management and Program Analysis Series, 0343. SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations toward development and/or improvement of critical command plans and programs for conducting major operations such as war, mobilization, rescue, mission and flying operations, deployment, rescue, foreign military sales, acquisition, weapon system/training device upgrade/modification, PPBS, special operations, or similar operations.

Comprehensive knowledge of budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, policies, and processes to formulate, justify, and execute budgets and financial goals in support of the mission, structure, goals, work processes, and programs of the organization. Work requires considerable skill in applying this knowledge to plan and accomplish a variety of complex work assignments and or to identify, analyze, and resolve manpower and logistics management issues or problems FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
