ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Electronics Technician Maintenance II maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, laser, electro-optics, infrared, telemetry, and communications systems, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices. The successful incumbent applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
GENERAL DUTIES:
* The Electronics Technician Maintenance II applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
* Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments, and is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.
* This technician works under immediate supervision and achieves technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.
* This technician may assist higher-level technicians in accomplishing modifications as well as identifying problems requiring further investigation.
* May be required to assist senior level technicians in performing software adaptations and computer problem solving and repair or perform minor actions without higher-level assistance.
* May be required to provide guidance, training, and functional supervision to lower-level technicians.
* Required to perform with limited instructions or supervision.
* Must possess a general knowledge of electronic component characteristics to aid in the selection of replacement components and devices.
* Knowledge of other trades such as the mechanical skills necessary to repair and modify servo systems, pedestal-drive systems, waveguide installations, and optics associated with laser and camera systems a plus.
* Must be thoroughly familiar with the operation of test instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, frequency measuring equipment, and other related measurement instruments.
* Performs functions related to the operation and maintenance of the IBDSS program.
* Be familiar with the installation or reconfiguration of both interior and exterior security systems, video surveillance systems, & lighting systems.
* Knowledge of annunciator systems and how they work from alarm programming to field wiring on panels.
Job Requirements OTHER DUTIES:
Other functions include assisting in the orientation and training of other technicians at this level when directed by the supervisor. Will perform general housekeeping and other job-related tasks. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste. Some mission support overtime occurring before and/or after these hours may be required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics with two years' experience as an Electronic Technician. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary to support missions and participate in Temporary Duty Assignments (TDYs). Will be required to follow all travel guidelines/restriction in performance of duties.
Will be required to create and maintain positive relationships with industry contacts, Test Wing, and the Force Protection Branch at Hanscom AFB, which are crucial for IBDSS operations. Will perform other job-related tasks as required. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
May perform work assignments in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some tasks and assignments such as the installation; operation; and maintenance of mobile systems, aircraft systems, or range instrumentation will require work performance in outside environments in heat or cold with exposure to the conditions typical of various work locations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.
