Property Accountant (100% Remote) Base pay range

$80,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Summary

The Property Accountant is responsible for full‑cycle accounting and financial reporting for assigned properties, including account analysis, journal entries, and reconciliations. This role ensures accurate reporting in accordance with the modified accrual basis of accounting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily cash management, including monitoring balances, reconciling bank and mortgage accounts, and confirming tenant payments.
  • Review and approve invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely disbursements for mortgages, taxes, insurance, and ground leases.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, reconcile general ledger accounts, and post required journal entries.
  • Maintain complete work papers for assigned properties and ensure timely month‑end and year‑end closes.
  • Collaborate with Property Managers to review budget variances, prepare budgets, forecasts, and annual operating expense reconciliations.
  • Record refinances, sales, and other property transactions in Yardi.
  • Support the Controller with year‑end tax entries, reconciliations, and process improvements.
  • Participate in training and contribute to developing accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in real estate or property management.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel;
    Yardi and Kardin experience preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
