Clarke Middle Health Center Student Administrative Assistant
The Clarke Middle Health Center (CMHC) Student Administrative Assistant is responsible for front office operations and provides remote support to Athens Free Clinic mobile sites as needed. This self‑contained role requires strong organizational skills, self‑management, and a willingness to adhere to mandatory background screening procedures.
Responsibilities- Greet and check patients in and out in a courteous and professional manner.
- Manage front desk queues and phone lines, ensuring calls are answered promptly and routed appropriately.
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments within EMR; send appointment reminders via phone, text, or patient portal and track no‑show and cancellation rates.
- Verify and update patient demographics, consent forms, and insurance eligibility prior to visits and follow up with patients to resolve outstanding issues.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records within the Athena EMR system.
- Respond to patient requests via phone, email, and patient portal; triage urgent or sensitive requests and elevate to appropriate clinical staff as needed.
- Perform general office duties including scanning, faxing, filing, copying, and maintaining a clean and welcoming front office environment.
- Send correspondence, referral letters, and faxes on behalf of clinicians as requested.
- Communicate and coordinate with Clarke County School District staff in a timely and professional manner; assist with mobile site administrative duties including volunteer scheduling and reminder calls as required.
- Assist clinicians with administrative questions and tasks to support efficient patient care delivery; coordinate with clinical staff regarding patient follow‑up needs and scheduling adjustments.
- Help maintain a professional, organized, and supportive working environment and assist nursing staff with other duties as assigned.
- Maintain professionalism: de‑escalation skills, cultural humility, and sensitivity when working with diverse patient populations; demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Graduate student in a related field.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
