Job Description:
R.J. Corman Railroad serves all seven North American major railroads, many regional and short line railroads, and dozens of rail-related industries. Services include owning and operating nineteen short lines, providing emergency rail services associated with derailments and natural disasters, switching, track construction, track material distribution, signal design/construction, building switching locomotives, and operating a dinner train.
This internship is a paid, full-time, hands-on program to develop and prepare you for your career aspirations. Within this internship, you will be introduced to multiple facets of R. J. Corman. You will work closely with managers and team members to apply your knowledge and skills both technically and professionally. You can also expect to have ongoing developmental conversations to ensure maximum growth.
This internship provides hands-on experience in inventory management, data accuracy, and operational support within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, and interested in supply chain, logistics, or operations management.
Successful interns may be offered the opportunity to participate in R. J. Corman's Management Trainee Program at the end of the internship.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with tracking, counting, and reconciling inventory levels
- Help maintain accurate inventory records in inventory management systems
- Support cycle counts and physical inventory audits
- Identify inventory discrepancies
- Assist with organizing inventory storage areas
- Collaborate with warehouse, operations, and purchasing teams
- Prepare basic inventory reports and documentation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to follow procedures and work independently
- Strong communication skills
- Interest in inventory control, supply chain, or operations
- Previous experience in inventory, warehouse, or operations environments
- Familiarity with inventory management or ERP systems
- Basic data analysis skills
- Familiarity with using a forklift
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Able to work long shifts
- Capable of standing for extended periods of time
This position will work in and around warehouses, machine shops, mechanic shops, and high traffic yards. Safety toe work boots, high visibility vests, and safety glasses are required in some areas.
