Position: WRD MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - WR

Overview

Maintenance Supervisor, WRD - Water Supply. Pay Range A; $26.06 - $32.29 hourly. Full Time, Non-Exempt. Classified, Non-Bargaining. 180 Day Probationary Period.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of High School education or GED certification
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience in water/wastewater distribution/collections systems and treatment plant maintenance and repair
  • Prior supervisory experience desired
  • Possession of IC&I Certification and/or Machine Maintenance Certification preferred;
    Class II Water Distribution, Water Supply, Wastewater Collection or Treatment License required
  • Must have and maintain a Class A or Class B CDL as required for operation of specialized equipment
  • Must be enthusiastic, team oriented, and possess leadership skills to work with staff and the public
  • Must follow County safety procedures and adapt to changing regulations to maximize efficiency
  • Position involves exposure to extreme temperatures, loud noises, fumes, inclement weather; requires moderate lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, stooping and bending
  • Work near motorized equipment; requires normal vision and hearing acuity; must traverse rough terrain
  • Exposure to unfavorable health or safety conditions is frequently present
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Educational/experience equivalence: an amount equal to the minimum qualifications stated above
Job Duties
  • Provide functional supervision and assign work to subordinate employees engaged in the Electrical/Mechanical maintenance of water/wastewater treatment plants and distribution/collections systems, including instruments and controls at multiple facilities
  • Make independent operational decisions; supervise subordinate personnel, plan and schedule work, assign duties, provide direction, perform employee evaluations, initiate disciplinary action, and authorize absences
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and other relevant information; evaluate system functionality and general integrity
  • Review and interpret maps, plans, GIS information; evaluate activity-based costing and recommend efficiency improvements
  • Create and implement customer service standard operating procedures (SOPs); assist in development of work plans; utilize GIS and maintenance management software to store and track performance
  • Assist in preparing and tracking budget data for department activities; may operate a county vehicle as part of essential duties
  • Prepare and manage materials and services contracts; liaise with outside contractors; respond to complaints and recommend corrective actions
  • Conduct established training programs, safety techniques and equipment
  • Work solo or in teams on short- or long-term projects; participate in cross-training and maintain proficiency; perform related duties as assigned
  • Work to reduce or eliminate safety and risk concerns in the current position or work location
