What our office doesOur department helps guide students through academic excellence with co-curricular activities and programming. The Federal Work Study Students for the Office of Student Government and Leadership Development will provide the utmost level of customer service for the Student Union main office. We seek students who are engaging, kind, welcoming, and enjoy championing a peaceful, and friendly work environment while serving as student ambassadors for their respective campuses.
PositionSummary
This position aids our students and staff by completing the following duties:
- Checking library materials in and out to library users using automated library information systems
- Shelving library materials multiple times a day, performing shelf-reading and dusting of assigned sections as scheduled
- Issuing new and replacement library cards to patrons
- Answering and transferring calls on multi-line phone
- Assisting walk-in students in the use of general office equipment, printing and/ or various computer related issues
- Performing daily cleaning and dusting
- Additional duties as assigned
CSN students and staff.
Work Experience in our Department supports the following Degree/Certificate Programs- Communication, English, Sociology, and Business Administration
- Computer experience required.
- Ability to alphabetize with accuracy and speed
- Ability to push heavy book carts up to but not to limited to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, stand, and/or sit for long periods of time required
- Dependability and punctuality are a must
- Customer service skills preferred
- Ability to interact and communicate well with others in person and over the telephone
- Ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and courtesy preferred
- Basic office equipment troubleshooting skills also preferred

Offer and acceptance of a Work Study Award are not a guarantee of employment. Wages under this position are paid from Work Study awards administered by the CSN Financial Aid Department. To maintain eligibility, students must:
- Show a financial aid eligible major (degree or certificate program) declared with the CSN Office of the Registrar.
- Meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Progress after each semester/term to qualify for employment within the academic year.
- Show degree compliant enrollment for each semester/term for which funding is desired.
- Be enrolled in at least 6 credits and meet additional eligibility requirements of the Silver State Regents Service Program for summer semester/term employment.
- * Student’s cannot work another part-time position within NSHE at the same time they are employed as a CSN College Work Study student.
