Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing / Procurement Specialist to support sourcing, procurement, and supplier management activities for automotive prototype and production parts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, contract administration, supplier negotiations, SAP, and the ability to interpret CAD drawings and engineering specifications within an automotive manufacturing environment.

This role requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure timely procurement of prototype and production components while maintaining quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end purchasing activities for automotive prototype and production parts.
  • Source suppliers, evaluate quotations, and support supplier selection processes.
  • Review engineering specifications, CAD drawings, and technical documentation to support procurement decisions.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams regarding design changes, prototype requirements, and production readiness.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, contracts, and procurement documentation within SAP.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives and strategic sourcing activities.
  • Analyze supplier quotations and perform cost comparisons and purchasing recommendations.
  • Track procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery of prototype and production materials.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier databases, and procurement reports.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve supplier-related issues and procurement challenges.
  • Prepare procurement reports, presentations, and management updates using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing and supply chain operations.
  • Participate in supplier visits, audits, and business reviews as required.
  • Travel to supplier locations and manufacturing facilities when necessary.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain Operations.
  • Experience working in automotive manufacturing, OEM, Tier-1 supplier, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, supplier management, and contract administration.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP procurement modules.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience sourcing automotive components, prototype parts, or manufacturing materials.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including data analysis, reporting, and spreadsheet management.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other business software applications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with prototype vehicle development programs.
  • Knowledge of automotive product development lifecycle.
  • Experience supporting new model launches or prototype builds.
  • Understanding of BOMs (Bill of Materials) and engineering change management.
  • Experience with supplier quality and supplier development processes.
  • Knowledge of cost analysis, spend analysis, and strategic sourcing methodologies.
