Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor, PFC, KY

Overview

This position provides coverage for short‑term, surge, and on‑demand personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations. The role may involve post‑deployment events or covering assignments of counselors who are absent.

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Conduct one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and consultations with command staff.
• Develop and distribute financial education materials.
• Coordinate, publicize, and deliver Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle, including arrival at first duty, pre‑ and post‑deployment, and other life events.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling and electronic communication modes such as web‑based chat or secure video teleconference (authorized by the OSD FINRED Program Office).
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in supervision, sharing trend information and issues.
• Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree plus 4 years of experience or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may also be considered.
• Minimum 3 years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizenship and fluent English required; bilingual English/Spanish required if contract requires.
• Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier2 security investigation.
• Pass the congressional disclosure process for organizational conflicts of interest.
• Valid certification as Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
• Driver’s license (valid in state) is recommended.

Salary range: $58,440–$93,500 (base), with potential short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life, voluntary and other benefits.
