The Supply Chain Specialist will be responsible for working collaboratively with the Lab Manager, Pharmacists, and other departments as necessary on timely ordering, receiving, maintaining documentation, and maintaining stock levels for commercial products, chemicals, and other supplies needed for the pharmacy. This position will ensure order fulfillment with suppliers and negotiate pricing, shipping terms, and delivery schedules. All tasks and duties must be completed in accordance and compliance with HIPAA guidelines, State and Federal laws, and current company policies and procedures.

This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in monitoring and managing material inventory in support of activities in the laboratory and pharmacy.
  • Assist in analyzing the pharmacy’s demand requirements to determine an appropriate safety stock for standard items.
  • Proactively mitigate supply disruption by accurately assessing risk, inventory levels, lead time, and cost.
  • Assist in managing supplier performance by assessing quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with suppliers.
  • Manage Supply Agreements (as applicable) with key suppliers.
  • Assist in identifying alternate sources of supply to improve quality and cost and to maintain supply chain continuity.
  • Negotiate pricing when applicable.
  • Submit purchase orders and maintain complete and accurate purchasing records per company SOPs.
  • Work collaboratively with warehouse personnel to receive all materials and distribute to the necessary personnel.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory life cycle management by utilizing FEFO/FIFO methodology.
  • Assist in coordinating bulk chemical, pharmaceutical waste, and hazardous waste destruction activities.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of procurement, purchasing, or planning experience is desired.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and trending using Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent motivation, drive to succeed, and ability to learn.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
