Forklift Operator, Material Handler
Position Summary
Performs semi‑skilled work operating material handling equipment for the transportation of component parts and finished goods. Responsible for setting up production lines, maintaining inventory accuracy by scanning parts to and from proper locations, maintaining assigned forklift, reporting maintenance or damage, right‑sizing inventory, and providing material handling support to ensure schedule attainment.
Duties and Responsibilities- Operate material handling/forklift equipment (Conventional, Stock pickers, Reach Trucks, Tuggers, Walkie Stackers) including frequent get‑on/get‑off of lifts.
- Use visual management and safety alerts correctly and consistently.
- Move inventory in and out of production and warehouse areas with accuracy.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by scanning parts to and from proper locations.
- Right‑size/consolidate inventory to 80% utilization using the correct LPN types and storage media.
- Perform daily forklift inspections per checklist/Infolink and safely maneuver the facility.
- Track parts using RF device and WM system.
- Provide on‑the‑job training as needed.
- Perform daily 6S activities (housekeeping, organized work area, paperwork/check sheets).
- Cross‑train in all material handling areas, including SIC and 305.
- Work assigned overtime when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Complete forklift training classes and obtain an MTD/SBD forklift license.
- Safely operate and maintain equipment through daily inspections.
- Use an RF gun.
- Lift 40lb consistently and handle bending, squatting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Use scale for weigh counting.
- Basic math skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent experience. (Case‑by‑case review)
Licenses or Certifications- Forklift license.
- Driver’s license required.
Must be able to work in a factory environment.
