Position Objective and Purpose

Within a team environment, contributes to the ongoing production of a high quality HDPE corrugated plastic pipe. This includes performing duties relating directly to the start‑up, packaging, inspection and testing requirements associated with such processes. In addition, associates will actively participate in diagnosing and solving all team issues & concerns, hands‑on educational and safety training and any other assigned tasks as required, assuring that personal, team, and company goals are being met.

Functions
  • Performs all duties in a safe, efficient manner, communicates need for additional training if unsure how to perform a task safely, is aware of all equipment emergency stop buttons and observes all appropriate company safety regulation.
  • Performs packaging duties according to guidelines for finished product to include starting, packing, coiling, tying, cutting, routering, applying gaskets & wrap, printing legibility, correct piece counts, cart set‑up, proper band placement and tension, and safe operation & care of banding equipment.
  • Utilizing measuring tools, monitors & documents pipe wall thickness, inside diameter, overall length, & weight to assure product conforms to standards.
  • Visually inspects product for defects to include separation, blowouts, and foreign materials.
  • Visually inspects products to assure uniform consistency, proper perforations, adequate markings, proper stretch & packaging.
  • Has basic understanding of all downstream line equipment and maintains such by cleaning at regular intervals to assure smooth operation.
  • Utilizing fork trucks, transports raw materials to the processing area and ensures proper mixing of materials.
  • Utilizing fork trucks, transports finished product into the inventory yard & stacks it in the designated storage area.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of assigned line and surrounding area so work can be performed in safe and productive manner.
  • Performs cutting and grinding operation of scrap tubing and pipe in a safe and productive manner.
  • Actively participates in all team issues, training/educational opportunities, and quality & safety programs.
  • Assists other personnel in plant functions as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience and Skills Preferred

Related mechanical and shop experience which includes the following skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of related safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions.
  • Ability & willingness to understand and follow routine oral & written instructions.
  • Ability to conform to company attendance standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a participative/team‑oriented environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Previous industrial factory experience.
  • Excellent work history with proven track record.
Working Conditions and Environment

The position has typical industrial manufacturing working conditions to include the presence of large machinery, noise and continuous manufacturing process activity.

Due to the nature of the product being produced, there is a sustained intermittent exposure to outdoor elements. These include heat, cold, rain, sleet, snow, dust, & mud.

The individual may encounter moderate emotional & physical strain or tension. There is sustained exposure to standing and moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs), occasional heavy lifting (over 75 lbs) and other environmental conditions normally present in a manufacturing plant.

Production Work Hours

This facility is a 5 day/ 24 hour operation with extensions of operating days during peak seasons.

Production Associates work 8‑hour shifts M‑F. Hours for 1st shift are 7am‑3pm, 2nd shift are 3pm‑11pm and 3rd shift are 11pm‑7am.

During peak seasons, associates are required to work weekends as needed based on the company’s production requirements. Weekend requirements are posted by Wednesday each week.

Additional Requirements

To be considered for an interview, candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, transportation, be reliable/dependable, have the ability to lift over 50 lbs, be enthusiastic, have a positive attitude and be able to pass an initial and random employment drug screens.
