Nurse Supervisor LPN Duties and Responsibilities- Provide oversight and leadership to all on‑duty nursing staff during non‑business hours. Ensure proper staffing levels, monitor workflow, and assist with prioritizing patient care tasks. Address staff concerns and promote a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Act as the highest‑ranking on‑site authority during after‑hours and weekends. Make timely decisions related to patient care, staffing, safety, and operations. Collaborate with other departments when needed and escalate issues appropriately.
- Offer clinical expertise and support in resolving patient care challenges. Assist with complex cases or difficult family situations. Handle call‑ins or last‑minute staffing changes, ensuring coverage and continuity of care.
- Develop and maintain care standards.
- Make frequent rounds to note resident/patient conditions and to ensure nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
- Give and receive the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
- Ensure assigned work area (i.e. nurse station, med. cart, medication room, etc.), resident/patient care rooms and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary and as department needs may dictate.
- Ensure that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident’s response to the care.
- Inform nursing service personnel of new admissions, their expected time of arrival, room assignment, etc.
- All other duties, as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal and team development skills.
- Ability to multi‑task and remain calm under stress.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and delegate to others.
- Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
- Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
- Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
Education and Experience
- Current CPR Certification required.
- Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Long‑Term care and MDS experience preferred.
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
- Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
