Overview

The Quality Inspector works on a 12‑hour production shift, including weekends, nights, and occasional overtime. The role is responsible for inspecting and testing finished product, collecting data, and reporting quality trends. The Inspector works under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager and maintains a dotted‑line report to the Shift Production Supervisor.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Collect products for sampling, evaluation, testing, and data recording.
  • Enter data into the SPC data collection software and interpret all data collected to identify quality trends and issues.
  • Place suspect product on hold (HFI) and communicate issues to the QA Manager, Shift Supervisor, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding the quality function, data collected, and risk factors.
  • Maintain a complete working knowledge of all products, including finished goods and packaging.
  • Understand and explain AIB guidelines as required.
  • Mix bottle lubricants for application stations, test for results, and perform cross‑training with One Step and Two Step Quality Support.
  • Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) as documented in the policy.
  • Follow all established safety rules and guidelines, use required PPE, and communicate hazards and safety issues.
  • Perform other related assignments at the direction of the QA Manager.
Reporting Relationship

This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager and has a dotted‑line report to the Shift Production Supervisor.

Job Specifications and Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some post‑secondary education preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a quality function is preferred.
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Strong mathematical ability (averages, sums, standard deviations, spec limits, measurement drawing), data entry, and proficiency with MS Office, RealSPC, SAP, and other company systems.
  • Other: Ability to interpret instructions, make independent decisions, and operate under production pressures.
Physical Requirements

Stand/walk for up to 11 hours per shift on concrete floor; lift or carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally; push/pull up to 900 lbs. occasionally using a hydraulic hand jack. Frequently squat, bend, kneel, and reach as required by the position.

Licenses

Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid forklift license.

Authority Level

Authorized to hold for inspection any product that does not meet customer or company specifications.
