Position:
Lab Technician in the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery.
Classification: FLSA Non-Exempt, Full Time, FTE 1.0.

Salary: $40,000 - $57,000.
Location:
Athens, Georgia.
- Organize and assist in implementation of research projects including data collection, assay development and execution, and project management.
- Perform molecular biology and biochemistry techniques such as RT and gel-based PCR, flow cytometry, western blots, cell culture, ELISAs, and HPLC.
- Sample processing and assay development for clinical trials.
- Conduct complex research experiments following lab protocols.
- Work with multiple investigators; maintain accurate records, assist with literature searches, prepare data reports.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory; autoclaving, dishwashing, hazardous waste disposal, and ordering supplies.
- Assist with shipping/receiving of materials.
- Perform light animal work (restraint, medicating, assessing) as required.
Minimum:
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred:
Prior research experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities: strong organizational and analytical skills, sterile technique, cell culture, basic computer knowledge (MS Word, Excel), effective communication, critical thinking, confidentiality, positive attitude, constructive criticism.
Physical Demands- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently on hard floor surfaces.
- Work with small, delicate equipment or large heavy objects.
- Wear protective gear (facemask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles).
- Work for long periods with arms extended.
