Campus Security Officer

Job Summary

The Campus Security Officer will foster a safe and secure working environment for all employees, clients, and visitors. This is an unarmed position.

Part Time Schedule at Ballard Blocks:
Monday - Friday, 2pm to 6pm
Part Time Schedule at West Seattle:
Monday - Friday, 2pm to 6pm

• Maintain access control over designated access points, responsible for visitor access management
• Utilize video surveillance systems
• Conduct tours/patrols of the interior and exterior premises
• Detect and deter illicit activity, including loitering, trespass and other transient activity
• Assist clients, business visitors and guests
• Respond to security, facilities and medical emergencies
• May visit and respond to other Centers in the vicinity

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3 years of security officer experience operating in a full time capacity, including military or law enforcement service
• Prior de‑escalation training
• First Aid / CPR / AED certifications
• Personal transportation
• Unarmed position

• Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related discipline
• Experience working in a fast‑paced environment and ability to deal with shifting priorities
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, including de‑escalation
• Proficient in MS Office
• Experience conducting security duties in a school or childcare setting
• Experience utilizing surveillance cameras and access control programs
• ASIS membership
• State security license / certification

The hourly rate for this position is between $25.00 - $29.00 per hour.

• New Part Time Employees in this role receive 1 hour of sick time per 30 hours worked if hired in Washington state, and sick leave as specified by local law if hired in other locations.
