Summary
The Security Specialist plays an essential role in protecting people, property, facilities, and critical assets while delivering exceptional customer service in a professional and mission-focused environment. As a visible representative of the organization, the Security Specialist helps maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming atmosphere for employees, visitors, contractors, and government personnel.
This position is responsible for monitoring facility access, conducting security patrols, responding to incidents and emergencies, enforcing site regulations, and supporting overall security operations. The ideal candidate is observant, dependable, customer-focused, and capable of remaining calm under pressure while making sound decisions in fast-paced situations.
Responsibilities- Protect company and government facilities, personnel, equipment, and assets through proactive security measures and vigilant observation.
- Monitor and control access to facilities and restricted areas, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors enter designated locations.
- Conduct routine and random security patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and controlled spaces toidentifyand report security concerns, safety hazards, or suspicious activity.
- Enforce site policies, security procedures, and access control requirements in a professional and courteous manner.
- Monitor security systems, alarms, cameras, and communications equipment to support effective site security operations.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, alarms, incidents, and unusual situations, following established procedures and providing support until issues are resolved.
- Serve as a professional first point of contact for employees, visitors, contractors, and VIP guests.
- Greet andassist visitors while providing clear directions, information, and assistance as needed.
- Maintain positive and professional interactions with customers, government personnel, and members of the public.
- Support visitor management and escort activities when required.

- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in security, force protection, asset protection, military service, law enforcement support, emergency response, customer service, or a related field.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Valid U.S. Passport with the ability to maintain passport eligibility.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
- Ability to understand and apply written policies, post orders, operating procedures, and training materials.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work rotating schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operationally required.
- Must meet all contractual, company, and site-specific requirements for employment.
- No history of illegal drug use, possession, sale, or manufacture within the previous five years.
- Prior military, law enforcement, corrections, force protection, emergency response, or security experience.
- Experience working in government, military, defense, industrial, or critical infrastructure environments.
- Experience monitoring alarms, security systems, surveillance equipment, or dispatch operations.
- CPR, First Aid, or emergency response training.
- Knowledge of security operations, access control procedures, patrol techniques, and emergency response practices.
- Understanding of workplace safety principles, incident reporting procedures, and security awareness protocols.
- Familiarity with customer service principles and professional public interaction.
- Strong observation and situational awareness skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to accurately document incidents, observations, and daily activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other common business software.
- Ability to operate computers, communications systems, security technology, and standard office equipment.
