Job Overview
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for the customer site installation and commissioning of equipment, as well as training, retrofits, service, and preventative maintenance. Projects will vary in length between a few days to 4 weeks. When not at customer locations, Service Engineers are responsible for platform testing, customer support, and in‑house support of other departments. This position is often the lead role at a project site.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Install & commission new systems within the schedule and budget provided by the project team.
- Perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control system installations (including 3,000‑psi hydraulics and up to 120,000‑psi ultra‑high pressure fluid systems).
- Troubleshoot and rebuild hydraulic components (variable pumps, directional valves, relief valves, intensifiers, centrifugal pumps) and filtration systems.
- Test and verify platform performance.
- Maintain administration and reporting of projects.
- Lead on site project staff, including customer maintenance crews and external contractors.
- Train customers and internal staff through classroom settings and practical applications.
- Ensure personal and site staff safety, quality assurance, and customer relations.
- Provide remote support to customers and coworkers, and support other departments and sites.
- Education:
AS, AAS, or equivalent education/work experience. - 3–5 years of experience in a Field Service Technician capacity.
- Willing to travel up to 70%, domestically and internationally.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, mechanical prints and PLC ladder logic.
- Familiar with cooling, pneumatic and high/low pressure systems.
- Proficient in use of torque wrenches and precision measurement instruments.
- Proactive mindset, self‑starter, capable of meeting deadlines while working as a team.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and web‑based databases.
- Proficiency in electro‑mechanical systems and experience installing multimillion‑dollar capital equipment products.
- Experience coordinating and leading large projects, including crane operations, rigging, electrical installation, and plumbing.
- Demonstrated experience with PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
- Experience with ultra‑high pressure or water jet cutting machines desired.
- Previous work in a food processing facility desired.
- Valid driver’s license and valid passport.
The estimated pay range for this role is $34.00 - $44.00 an hour. Salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
